A Timeless Black and White Kitchen

Nothing says “timeless” quite like black and white. It’s able to ebb and flow with all the trends and your style. Skip the grey and just stick with black and white, I PROMISE you won’t regret it!

There are SO many combinations that you could do with a black and white kitchen. Here are some of my favorites:

The Broadmoor House
eDesign Home
Laura Design Co.
Better Homes & Gardens

Flooring: Choose a flooring that you want to be able to use as accents throughout the rest of your kitchen. Wood floors, whether light or dar, can easily transfer over with natural accessories in cutting boards and turntables.

Cabinets: My personal favorite is a mix of the black and white. Depending on the size of your kitchen, black cabinets on the bottom and white on time creates a lighter, more open feeling when you walk into the room. Small space with minimal natural and artificial lights? Go with all white and black countertops. You honestly can’t go wrong with the black and white combination. Go with your gut on this one!

Sherwin Williams Snowbound White and Tricorn Black are my personal favorite black and white combo when you’re using them in the same space.

Countertops: This one will depend on your cabinets and the lighting in the space. And if you have kids, definitely factor in how much cleaning you want to keep up with! White countertops will show EVERYTHING. Again, you can’t go wrong with the black and white combo.

Have an island? Do white cabinets with black countertops on the wall cabinets and black cabinets with a white countertop on the island!

Cabinet Pulls: the best way to steer away from a completely black and white kitchen, but keep it timeless, is to add in gold drawer pulls. The pulls you choose will depend on how you want them to feel and the easy of use. Here are some of my favorites:

T-Bar Pulls
Cup Bin Pulls
Hexagon Pulls

Appliances: No need to go on the hunt for black and white appliances or settle for the ’90’s look of one! Stainless steel will do just fine! Mixed metals will keep your space looking timeless and will create one cohesive look.

Lighting: The color choice of your lights will depend on the color of your cabinets and paint. You don’t want your lights to blend into the background. You’ll want lighting above your sink, island if you have one, and maybe even opening shelving. Mix and match! You can never go wrong with gold, no matter what color combination you made on your cabinets and walls! Here are a few of my favorites:

Black and Gold Pendant
Gold Cone Pendant
White & Gold Pendants – see how the white lights just blend into the background? I’d go with black on this one!

Backsplash: Have fun with this one! Stick with a white tile but a creative design to add a little character to the space. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Rhombus Mosaic Backsplash
Marble Honeycomb Backsplash
Arabesque Backsplash

Accessories: Can’t forget these! Whether you like to keep the counters completely clear or like to keep a few functional pieces out, here are a few that can do either:

Marble Cutting Board
Black and Gold Matte Faucet
Stone Dish Set
Decorative Tray
Vase – comes in black OR white
Island Counter Height Stools

I hope this was helpful in giving you some ideas on how to create a timeless black a white kitchen. Whether you’re updating or completely renovating, black and white is always a way to make a space last a lifetime.
