A Scandinavian Inspired Kitchen

I have to confess that this is one of my favorites inspirations because its so simple and earthy. I’m all about having only things in the home that serve a purpose and nature-inspired/bringing the outdoors in! It’s so light and airy and invites you to sit and stay a while.

Light wood everywhere: Open shelving? Make them light wood floating shelves. Flooring? Light wood. Accents? Light wood. Furniture? Light wood. You’ll probably gravitate toward the beautiful dark stains, but don’t do it! Light wood all the way.

Here is some light wood inspiration:

Simple and Minimalist Black Accents: If you can get it in a light wood, I would stick with the light wood. But if you have to choose between black or another color for metal, always go with black. Cabinet pulls, faucets, and chair and table legs, for example. Be sure to keep them simple though. Straight and slim for the minimalist look.

Lighting: Glass allows you to keep the eye on the natural elements in the room. If you want to go with something other than glass, go with a natural tone like seagrass or rattan. Or mix it up with glass pendants over your island and rattan chandelier over your table!

Backsplash: Keep it simple with a glazed white square tile or keep it REALLY simple and go without the backsplash!

Accessories: Glass, wood, and whites for just about anything. No need to add too many accessories, as it’s a clean, minimal look with clutter-free counters. Go for a simple vase for flowers, a bowl for fruit, and maybe a recipe holder. If you’re choosing backseats, go with a natural fiber like rattan or water hyacinth. Here are a couple of my favorites:
